Kidney Stones Home Remedy

Kidney Stones Home Remedy

Signs and Symptoms of Kidney Stones

A kidney stone is a small, grainy deposit that develops in the kidney due to a buildup of calcium crystals and other minerals in urine. These stones can range from about the size of a grain of sand up to the size of a pencil eraser. Eventually, this stone has to pass through the ureter, which is a small passage that is primarily meant to carry liquid. This results in the most common symptom of kidney stones: sudden and intense pain. Other symptoms may include:
  • Wave-like pain, usually in the side of the mid-back, which radiates to the groin area and cannot be prevented by adjusting your position or sitting still.
  • Small amounts of blood in the urine.
  • Sweating, nausea, or vomiting.
Most kidney stones will usually eventually pass through the body by drinking lots of fluids. However, some may require surgery to be removed. Therefore, it is important to consult your doctor if you suspect that you have kidney stones.

Causes of Kidney Stones

Calcium and other minerals in the body are normally flushed away during urination. Kidney stones develop when the concentration of these minerals in your urine is too high, resulting in a buildup of these crystals that form into a hard deposit. Diet plays a significant role in determining what kinds of minerals accumulate in your urine.

Home Remedies and Natural Cures for Kidney Stones Treatment

Drinking Water to Prevent Kidney Stones

Drinking more water helps to increase the volume of urine. This in turn helps to decrease the amount of stone-forming elements that build-up. Therefore, a common recommendation to help a kidney stone pass through the body more quickly is to consume close to a gallon (almost 4 liters) of water throughout the day. If you've previously had a kidney stone, drinking more water is also a good way to prevent the recurrence of them.

Magnesium as a Natural Treatment for Kidney Stones

Foods that are rich in magnesium have been found to help prevent the development of kidney stones, since magnesium helps lower the amount of oxalate minerals in urine (oxalate is one of the main components of kidney stones). Good sources of magnesium are fish, rice, avocado, and broccoli. You can also help prevent stones from developing by reducing your intake of oxalate-rich foods such as chocolate, nuts, beans, spinach, grapes, strawberries, blueberries, and black tea.

Reducing Salt Intake to Prevent Kidney Stones

Eating foods that are high in salt and sodium have been found to increase the amount of calcium in urine, which increases the chances of developing a kidney stone. Therefore, a good guideline is to reduce daily salt intake to 2-3 grams. It is best to avoid high salt foods such as ketchup, mustard, luncheon meats, and snack foods such as chips and pretzels.

One more thing... It is 100% true that constant soda consumption dehydrates and can help cause kidney stones but these things don't form overnight. I didn't let this discourage me from trying this remedy. FLUSH and REHYDRATE after the asparagus and you will be ok. Miserable experience that it was, turned out a miracle.

Also may be worth mentioning that I used a straw to drink the coke, seemed to lessen the need to burp which, after about 4 cokes began to feel like the need to vomit. Keep it down! It's no fun but it worked for me. Also, continue drinking lots of water ( forever ) and add some vitamin c to your diet. When kidney stones pass they tear, and you don't wantto get a urinary tract infection.

Coke and Asparagus kidney stone flush home remedy is as follows: first off, I am not a doctor, just a girl who gave this home remedy a shot with 100% success. It worked in 4 hours to help me pass a 4mm calcium stone (the most common kind). I had the stone just under 2 weeks and had been doing the aforementioned lemon and olive oil remedy for 5 days. FOLLOW EXACTLY and gather: something to strain your urine (I caught mine in a cup and strained it through panty hose) 6 cans or bottles or measured cups of 12oz COKE (all sites I checked said it must be coke, original not diet. That is what I used though I am of the opinion that diabetics could use diet because it's the acid that breaks down the stone, not the sugar...but that's an untested OPINION). 1 can asparagus spears intheir own juices one gallon pure water and a timer, timing is CRUCIAL. Start on an empty stomach, this is going to bloat you a bit. Every 20 min drink one 12oz serving of coke do this for 2 hours ( hence 6 servings ) try to pee as little as possible you want that acid in your system. Immediately after the last coke, have the asparagus mashed or purée ready and consume ALL of it. Asparagus is a natural diuretic and will begin to flush the acid from the coke through the kidneys. MOST IMPORTANT immediately after the asparagus you MUST begin to flush water back through your body. The soda dehydrated you and as you rehydrate (at least a liter the first hour after the asparagus) prepare for the pee of your life. Keep drinking water, you will feel like hell from all that sugar but the more water you force down the faster you will "eliminte" (and MAN ALIVE will you ever) and you"ll feel better. I began this remedy at 4:40, finished completely by 7:30, and passed my jagged little stone pain free at 11 pm. I'll never drink a coke again. Good Luck

Got diagnosed with my first kidney 2 weeks ago. For a few days I had no clue what was wrong. Cat scan revealed a 4mm stone at juncture of kidney and ureter. Doctor gave me pain meds and a "good luck" and sent me on my way. Went home and started researching, this is what I found. Stones 5mm or less pass without surgery 80% of the time. I tried the 2 oz olive oil 2 oz fresh lemon juice and while I have no doubt that it helped move my stone (and kept me completely off my pain meds) it was still taking to long to pass. I kept searching and found the "coke and asparagus remedy." I will post it here ( think I'm running out of room on this form.)

Ever since my husband started drinking filtered water instead of tap water, the frequency of kidney stones has been reduced. When he does get smaller ones, he uses an effective although unconvential approach...he drinks ALOT of beer..(like 12 cans plus)-not to get drunk, but to flush it out. Last one was flushed out in 4 hours!

I may have misspoke. I meant a lack of magnesium and B6 will cause kidney stones. heh. Baked potatoes with the skin is a pretty good food for this.

Very interesting Tim. I will definitely try that. I've been doing a lot of reading today, and I seen various websites saying a lack of magnesium and vitamin B6 will also do the trick. Maybe I will combine the lemon water with more magnesium and B6.

Kidney stones hurt..... OUCH! I have to go to the Doc to get mine taken out. Just love those internal stints....whoa boy! Anyhow... I digress... drink 4 oz lemon juice and 4 oz of water mixed... its stout, but if you think cranberry juice will do the trick...you are wasting your time and money. The lemon juice will literally attack the stones and break them down to a more passable subject. I had kidney stones at ages 24, 27, and 29. Started doing the lemon juice and I haven't been stoned since, and I am 38 now.
